How many part vinegar to water would work best?

My very technical answer is.....use a lot of vinager compared to water.:) I've never worried about a formula, but I'd say I always end up at around 50/50, or stronger if necessary.

My last tank right before it crash when I treat for the red flake... algae?

Vinegar and luke warm water and a good algae pad if glass- scraper and should clean up nicely.

Welcome home, you will love it here!

Keep us posted with the rebuild with lots of pics! :)

Regarding cleaning - soak everything in vinegar. It does amazing work!

Hello,

My name is Calvin. I was a broke college kid when I started with reef tank. After the tank crash I was unable to recover. Now after 9 years I’m back! Got a 90 gallons tank 3x2x2.

Hope this is also a good place to ask for advice....

How do you clean an old tank and sump. I can’t get the residue off the tank where the water level use to be. The sump is dry up and has a horrible smell.

Thanks in advance.
Welcome back!!!! I started back after about 5 years. Some things have definitely changed. I never imagined I would be dosing nitrates but I am!!! This is definitely the right place to ask for help.

Welcome to R2R and your new reefing family and welcome back to the hobby. Vinegar will be your best friend when it comes time to cleaning. Fill the tank with a strong vinager solution (and water) and let it soak. Razor blade (if glass) and a Magic Eraser.

What he said ^^^^^^^^

And welcome to R2R and back to the hobby.
