I am working on setting up my 150 gallon aquarium.
I have a Pond master 2400 return pump that will have about 7 or 8' of head pressure.
Before I drilled the tank I had a basic plumbing layout that was going to consist of 2 overflows at 1/3rd from the left and 1/3 from the right and (3) 1" returns (right left center). I have since decided to drill and have 1 centered overflow (I have (2) 1.5" bulk heads and I have an 18" overflow to cover them). That now leaves me with some plumbing I have already completed with the (3) 1" returns & the middle 1 is going to return right into the overflow.
So, do I cap the middle 1 and just go with 2 returns or do I put a T on the return in the middle and go around the overflow and have 4 returns?

Ok, so the 2 pictures of the stand with the return plumbing I have built are upside down!

I'd suggest going with the 'T' or 'SCWD' and splitting the center return. This will help with evening out the flow and not to have just two strong jets into DT.

Cheers, Todd

Its never a good idea to plumb something change the design and then try to use that plumbing. On your return you want to use as little plumbing needed to do what you want......Come straight up out of pump install a tee just above you sump height for a future horizontal manifold if wanted then up to center of tank at bottom. If you do two outlets a 3/4" squid would work well with one on each top end of tank @ back. You can paint the back outside of your tank with black Krylon Fusion this will hide your plumbing. Then add MPs or what ever if wanted.

In an expensive hobby like this you have you save where you can. What a waste it would be to junk what I have to remake it almost exactly the same. TV the Tonga is what I was going to do, but I have a SCWD that I will be taking from the 55 I have up now. Thanks for the idea!
