Return for 40 breeder frag

I’m building a 40 breeder with a 20 long sump. Going for kinda nice but not the best. Looking at the Mighty Jet (538 gph) for a return. Eventually I’ll upgrade and have a bigger tank and two return pumps running really low percentage. Just looking for something quiet. Any ideas?

sicce has "quiet" pumps, however i hear mixed reviews with them. my sicce is the loudest thing in my tank, but has served me well..

Simplicity 1000 is a really nice, controllable pump that will tune down easily for a 40b and doesn't break the bank. I ran the 1600 on a 120g at 50% with 6' of head.

I would say buy the larger pump now that you expect to be using in the future and turn it down or throttle it back with a valve.

I have a 40 breeder with a 20 gallon long sump!

I’m running an eShopps overflow box (medium).

The sump was setup using the Fuji Cube sump kit, which turned out nice and is functioning well.

There is a Bubble Magus Curve 5 for the protein skimmer which flows down to my Jeabao return pump.

So far, this setup is running nicely. No complaints.

Soon to add a refugium, as there is dedicated space for it in the sump and I already have a light for the algae.

Currently running two AI Prime 16s for the lighting.

Again, running smooth so far but only at about 3 months.
