Return line 1” help pics attached

Setting up overflow and return, how have you managed a return hooked up to a 1” flexible tubing? I want to avoid creating a siphon and backflow when the return pump is off so fully submerged didn’t work the first time

pics below, everything currently dry making sure to cut and measure. Obviously the return line is too long, but don’t want to just run it down into the tank

You will either have to mount it very high or you can get a check valve. I would say you'd need to get the threaded one and install barbed fittings so I'd say get one for 1.5" then you will have less restrictions when you add the barb.

What are you using for the return line in the tank?

Get two elbow 90 barb to barb fittings for the size diameter tube u have their.
Than heat the tube under hot water. Press it on at the height of the tank. Cut another like 4" piece and use the other 90 elbow to shoot it down in.
Mclendons. Ace hardware. Lowes. Home depot. Online. Ect.

It’s just a 1 inch flexible tubing with wire braids so it doesn’t link

How does this prevent a siphon when the pump is off? If it’s submerged it starts sucking water out of DT back into sump

You need something like this. What you would do is drill a small hole just below the water line and that will work as your siphon break and water will stop back flowing into you sump

Yes it will siphon back into the tank at the height u set it. I usually set my return line right under the display tank height so it doesn't siphon all the water lol. Only maybe the top 1" of my display. Your sump should be able to handle the back siphon water. If not. Get a bigger sump tank. It's a flood safety issue.

Don't go 4" down in the water though. If you're using the lower tank as a sump you will already have water in it, if you have the returns 4inches below your dt water level it will probably flood your sump without a check valve.

You can make it easy like monkeyCmonkeyDo said. Just remember to drill the hole just under your water level.
