Im in the plumbing build for my 90 gallon.

Stand Height 40"
Aquarium height is 24 "

return pump sicce adv 7. 1900 gph.

So I have already a 1 inch flex pvc I bought from Dr. Foster and Smith when they were going out of business.

Should I go for a single return line or wye it and have dual return ( one of each side)?

I have a 48" wide x 24" high 90 gallon tank right now and one of the reasons that I am upgrading to a larger tank is that I do not like the flow on the single return. Obviously, this is a personal choice and many will say that I overthink things. I just feel that the lock line coming out in the center, while the overflow is on the far left inhibits the surface skim from efficiently getting to the teeth. I can definitively say that one side of my tank flourishes more than the other. Ig you have the opportunity, I vote center drain, dual returns.
1" feels a bit big for a 48" wide tank though, you may want to consider some gate valves to control the flow.

Generally on decent sized tanks, I would like to always have two, but it depends.

What is your overflow, and where is it located? How much flow is your return pump pushing?

Sicce adv 7
Pushing 1900 gph before head pressure.

Nice set up. That is an adjustable pump, so you can play with it in the ControlAll App to get it dialed in.

Thanks
Not the adv. This is a ac pump. The sicce sdc is thr adjustable
Gotcha ... might be a bit much, definitely if you are running UV at any point. No worries, like I said earlier - gate valves with unions are your friend. Good luck with it! It's a good looking system - ENJOY.

If the overflow is staying there, I would just do a single 1" return on the left side of the back wall.
Thank you.
Ill go for 1 return on the left side to make it simpler.
I already drilled the holes for the overflow. Im just going to go above the trim for the return.

Agreed, it is is already drilled then the balance will be off with two. The good thing is you can put the return opposite the overflow. Much better than the way mine was done. You could also consider a random flow generator on your lockline to keep it from coming out like a firehose. It can add more movement to the tank.

I read the reviews on the VCA random flow generator and they seem to have problems like its too loose or its brittle overtime.

Im wondering about a sea swirl maybe?

I did not see those reviews. I have two of them that I just installed. I'll be sure to update you down the road if I change them out. I only found positive comments. If I could have gotten them in blue on Ebay I would have but the 3D guys did not make them in blue in 1". that would have been cool with my blue background. Oh well....
I had the Hydor Flo Rotating one on my JBJ cube a while back. I liked how it moved the water but algae would clog up the gears and then it would only blow in whatever direction it got stuck. I liked the RFG because it has no moving parts. If it starts to build up too much coralline, etc, I can give it a soak and put it back but it can't lock up like the Hydor.

Where did you got the RFG?

Saltwater aquarium.com I got them with the 1" modular hose fitting and screwed that directly into my bulkhead fitting. Everything fits as it should for the time being. The baby blue is the commercial grade teflon tape that I may have to deal with later.
