Return piping

Setting up the return pump and I wanted to use flexible piping. I picked up black flexible tubing that says “washing machine and dishwasher discharge hose”. Is this gonna be safe for my reef tank?

These will leach elementary be careful.
You want something that is NSF and food grade approved.

Look for food grade safe. Otherwise get one of the options Matine depot has.

This is what I used. It's super flexible and doesn't kink as easily as the nylon tubing. I was using nylon tubing before and it was too rigid causing my return pump to not to sit flush to the bottom, swapped with this tubing and the pump sits flush now.

The other thing to be mindful of is pressure rating. Most of the plastic corrugated hoses are designed for discharge not for pressure and can rupture. Leeching is probably less of a concern. For example, most of the flex PVC that some folks use (including myself) does not carry a potable water rating yet it is fine to use on a reef tank.
