My return pump is 1 1/4 that split into 2 1" bulkheads. Should I split the 1 1/4 after it exit the sump and keep it 1 1/4 all the way to the bulkheads then reduce or reduce to 1" right after the pump?

Also going into the bulk head, am I better off to use threaded bulkheads or slip and glue the PVC into it?

Thanks

Here's what I'd do.....1 1/4 up to a reducing 1 inch tee and now run 1 inch pipe to each of the bulkheads. I'd go with slip on the outside (pipe side) , and thread on the tank side....assuming you are using Loc-line, which is threaded.

Thanks, yes was going to use loc-line inside of the tank. So are you saying then I do just cement the PVC into the bulkheads and put a union in as well?

My preference is to glue the back side.

As far as unions, use them were you know you'll need to take it apart. Most certainly close to the pump exit so that you can easily remove the pump for maintenance and cleaning. Otherwise, where you think you'll need them. I have one at my pump and installed unions on the back side of my tank, not for maintenance reasons, but if and when I want to pull the tank out and replace/repair the tank (which I hope is never). Here's the back side of my tank:

Just wondering how everyone else does this? Would it not be difficult to remove the bulkhead if it glued rather than threaded?

Glue will force you to cut the bulkhead out if you need to remove it,
