Working on a build now and looking for suggestions on the order to plumb my return line in. I’ve only got one pump and one return.

I have a manifold with 2 takeoff - I plan on having one go to a chiller to return back into sump. Not in a hot area and don’t anticipate chiller will get much use - more of a backup since tank will be for seahorses. Other takeoff will be free for whatever later with intent to return to sump

Have a ball valve and a non return valve also.

Question is what order should I put everything in? Never used a non return before or chiller so new territory for me

Pump, valve, manifold, non return
Pump, manifold, valve, non return
Or pump , manifold, non return, valve
Or some other order/ leave non return put all together?

Pump > Manifold > Return
.................... '- Manifold > Chiller > Non-return

As long as you have valves on your manifold you don't really need them anywhere else (since you can limit or restrict the flow that way).

manifold only has valves on the taps off... not on inlet or outlet (it's the adaptive reef one since it was more compact than building one from scratch for me)
