I have a Elos 70, 55 tank and 18 gal sump and planning on redoing the plumbing while setting up for triton method. Currently the return plastic tube pipe about connects to a barb 20mm bulkhead

My plan was to use 3/4” pvc and then convert to 1/2” valves for the manifold and then convert at the bulkhead barb with a 1/2 inch tube but thinking about it should I just do 1/2 inch pvc for all?

My pump will be a Vectra s1 probably at 40-50% to get 10x turnover

Any benefits or cons one over the other?

use 3/4 then reduce to 1/2 off of the manifold, no sense in restricting the flow when it's not necessary. If you run the entire line at 1/2 you are unnecessarily increasing the resistance of the system.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah thinking about it more it makes sense this way. All outlet points will be 1/2 but 3/4 from the return
