I’m kind of stuck on what to do for my return plumbing. I have a manifold I built with 3 1/2 gate valves and one will have a 3/4” gate valve. On the one side I have a 4way. It will feed the manifold, allow for a return from a uv sterilizer, and then flow to the tank. The part I’m not so sure about is the return feed from the uv. Instead of a 4 way, I could do two Ts and plumb the return in that way. I plan on using tubing to connect the return pump to and from this manifold setup.

Are you planning to have your UV drain run back into the manifold? I would use one of the valves from your manifold (3/4”)to feed the UV and scratch the 4 way.

You can’t have the feed for uv and return from uv back to the same manifold because the manifold is pressurized

Sorry if I wasn’t making sense. The last port on the manifold doesn’t have a gate valve and will feed the uv and will be 3/4”. One of the 1/2” will feed my algae scrubber and the other two will be extra for now. The uv return will come in where the ball valve is located.

The 90 degree turns on the 4way would come from the return pump and go to the tank once I get barbed fittings.

This won’t work because your pump will push water to both ends of your Uv

you could scratch the uv return and the design will function. You’ll just need to add some hose or pvc to your UV output. You will lose stable pressure to your Uv because it’s at the end of your manifold. But diligent maintenance to your equipment can mitigate the pressure fluctuations.

Would sooner run single pump for uv, and a single pump for return so you know how many gph you have to these items. Using a manifold for other items is less critical, as far as knowing how many gph. Manifolds look cool, and can save space/pumps, but without flow meters to each device it’s a guess at best

How would you plumb the return of the uv?
With a flex hose and at the end I would attach It to two 90'elbows to act as a hook for the rim of my tank. Or if I was going full custom I would drill a bulkhead into the back wall of my tank just for the uv output.
