Ok , so i am looking to reconfigure my plumbing when i install my new sump. My last decision is between two different ideas on my Return plumbing to my tank.

My tank is 110 gallon and is not hard plumbed, so any plumbing needs to be over the back of the the tank. My overflow is the Lifereef Double Overflow, my return pump is the Ecotech Vectra M1( which will also run a manifold to a Turbo Algae Scrubber and a Media reactor. I will also use a 1'' FMM from Apex on return plumbing pipe so i can monitor GPH back into the tank.

My big debate is whether i should just use a 1'' Sea Swirl to setup my return plumbing or if i should just plumb the return using a Penductor and a reverse check valve (Similar to the one used on Melev's Reefs 400gallon tank). I also am up for any suggestions that anyone else might have or examples they use for their returns.

Thanks

When using an eductor, you need lots and lots of velocity. I am not sure that a M1 can get here - think PanWorld or Iwaki pressure kind of velocity.

A 1" sea swirl will be too large and will not have much flow. I would go for a 3/4 - this will be enough.

I also should of mentioned I have two Neptune WAV pumps also in my tank as well for flow.

The sea swirl I am getting is actually the Multi Deluxe Model which I can use with 1 inch or 3/4 inch plumbing, it has both options actually.

Melev stated recently that the reverse check valve had problems and got stuck over time. I am using SS as well on my new tank, just drill the sea swirl threaded pvc attachment as close to the bottom of your overflow teeth as possible.

Try to plumb it with 1".

By any chance do you have any pictures of your setup with your sea swirl plumbed from your sump. Would be much appreciated

I have seen a couple do this lately - so he removed his? I would think reducing the valve down to a 1/4 john guest fitting for the output she not get it stuck and air should flow.
