Hypothetically, if I were to leave town and the ATO failed or ran out of water, and the return area sump went below proper level to pump, would the Return Pump burn up? If so, any guess on how long it would operate without water? I have a M2.

So my question to you is why you want to know instead of taking preventative measures? How long you will be gone for? If it is too long then I would consider hire someone to nanny your tank while you are gone?

I doubt it that there were people running test to find the answer on the past. Also, try to contact Ecotech and I am sure they will say never run dry or gives you conservative answer.

No idea how long a Vectra will run dry. Since those pumps have had a history of overheating problems that were fixed by better routing water to the back of the impellar to improve cooling .... my guess is it wouldn’t run for long.

Its a hypothetical question. It is possible for an ATO to fail hence the issue. So asking the group if they know so I can plan a better fail safe system.
