Return pump: continuous flow or pulsed flow

Hi folks! I have an extra return pump lying around that has a pulsing "wave" option. I was thinking about swapping my existing continuous flow pump for it.
Is there much benefit to having a return pump with the wave option on?
Any other thoughts on that option?

That option is best used for closed loops. On the return it will mess with your overflow and make it loud
