Hey guys. Been trying to get answers but know one can tell me yet. Bought a waterbox 65.4. 4 footer. I’m thinking my dimensions a sicce quiet 3.0 will fit. 700gph. Is this too much flow to run through an all in one sump? Back sump has 2 overflows on each side. And 2 exit nozzles back into the tank. Yes iam still going to do a power head. But wondering can the overflows keep up with the demand of this pump. Case in point I have a sicce 1.0 265gph in my Fluval 13.5 sump. The overflow has to be min half way up to keep up and have the proper level for the skimmer to work

A good rule of thumb is 3-5x the volume of your tank through the sump per hour. You’ll need to adjust for the head height too, i.e. how far up the pump has to push the water. Most manufacturers have a chart posted of the GPH at various heights.

Ok so 5 times 65 is 325gph. That’s it?? I have 265 going through a 13.5

The flow only needs to be 325. However, the size of the pump to achieve that depends how tall the return is to your tank. The higher it has to push water, the less the effective gph it will have.

See this pump, for example: https://www.marinedepot.com/sicce-syncra-silent-1-5-multifunction-aquarium-pump-357-gph

It puts out 357 gph, but 258 at 3 ft of height and 185 at 5 ft of height.

The rest of the flow in the tank can be achieved by power heads.

650. Do times 10. Red Sea recommends 660 for my Reefer 250 L that's 65 gals with sump. What plans do you have for your tank?

Thanks everyone. So will me mixed. Reef. Mostly softy’s lps and a couple lps lots of live rock etc. Ok. And the pumps have the choice to dial them down if need be. Probably also do a Nero 5 for cross flow

I bought the same tank but still waiting for it to ship. I actually called waterbox and ask. The max flow recommended for this tank is 650gph. Of course you can go lower.

i bought varios2 . It’s rated over 800gph but since it’s dc, I can turn it down.

OP have a AIO tank with 0 head distance . There will be pipe and elbow which will restrict flow, but I would guess not as substantial comparing pushing water 5ft up.
