Return Pump for IM 25 Lagoon

The impeller shaft on my IM pump snapped, so while the pump still runs it is rattling like crazy, and it doesn’t look like it’s something I can get a replacement for. We have stopped using it for the night and are currently just running a HOB to tide the tank over. What type of pump would you guys recommend to replace it? Currently thinking the IM MightyJet as I know it fits, but suggestions welcome. Looking for something in the 215-350gph range. Would like to keep cost as low as possible but ideally something that my lfs should have as I need it ASAP.

Cobalt MJ1200. Ran one on my Biocube 29 without skipping a beat for years. Still use it as a mixing pump. If you go that route, make sure you get the Italian built Cobalt MJ1200, NOT the Chinese made Marineland Maxi Jet 1200. They are not the same pumps and are worlds apart in terms of build quality and reliability.

I agree the Cobalt 1200 is a great pump.. the new Mighty Jet pumps although pricey are very nice, I have had one running on a 40 for a few months and so far I really like it.

I’ll have to see if I can track down a cobalt, I know we carry the Marineland line.

i used the mighty jet on my nuvo 30L very nice pump. i also used the sicci 1.5 too, also nice

We actually do have the Cobalt at work as well... $50 vs $117. Is there any major difference to one over the other? Any idea if the cobalt will fit in the back?

Looks like your original deleted as well, but I saw what you said in the email notification haha. Great to hear! Looks like that’s the route I’ll end up going.

The multi purpose pumps confuse me a little.. Do I need to change the configuration at all to use it as just a powerhead? Also will it be compatible with the original tubing?

Argh. lol

I replaced my pump with the MJ1200 for the flow which was much better afterward. I also replaced the return tubing that splits off the pump. If I remember correctly the two needed to be a bit longer with the MJ1200. Easy as pie.

The MJ 1200 fits well. Might need to replace the two tubings that split but very easy and the flow the MJ1200 is better than the stock pump initially provided in the IM25lagoon.
