probably a better fit - I've used that one too in the past on a 45g frag tank - not huge flow but would nicely drive a 29G system and sump.

Is there any over flows you would recommend to go with it? All I've seen that were in my price range were the retrofit cpr ones

I would recommend a h20 overflow kit you have to drill the tank but they have a good video and I drilled mine right the first time. Much better than external.

It comes with plywood templates and you just clamp it to the top where it meets the plastic and perfect height comes with hole saw to.

I've not used that kit - but it looks very cool - would definately rather have that than an overflow box...drilling a tank is actually quite easy - just a little scary the first time.

Only the bottom of tanks are tempered this drills the back.
Not always, some tanks have all tempered now.
Best to check, goggle how to check for tempered glass, something with your smartphone and polarized glasses I believe

Yeah I have this and love it easy to drill just have to let the drill do the work and take your time it takes about 4 mins to go through and you totally know when it does.

The 3 d method you look at the back glass of your car that are always tempered and then look at the side glass then look at your tank.

I'd go with 7-10 times your tank volume. If a pump says 400 gph, that's just at the outlet. After you run it through plumbing back up to your tank and through bends it is far less than that. I run a 1300gph pump on my 120 gallon with a 50 gallon sump and the return is split off through the chiller as well.

jebao dc 9000, then turn it down to where you like it. I was running a mag 5 (500gph) on my 29 and loved it. was going to upgrade to the dc 9000 before I sold that tank.

I don't have a problem drilling the glass. The only problem I have is that my tank is full of water, rocks, fish, etc. The fish my lfs would probably hold for a week and the rocks I can just throw In a tub of water with a power head.

Tank volume + sump volume x return rate = gph of pump
30 + 20?=50 x 10 = 500 gph -(head is not calculated)
sometimes restricted pumps can be noisy depends on brand i suppose.
I do use the 10x in my 55 dt. it produces quite a bit of flow .

How many gph can that overflow handle? It doesn't say on site.
