I am currently in process of setting up a 120 gallon reef. I have read many mixed reviews about the different dc pumps and wonder what were everyones thought here?

If I went with a new internal. Then I'd have to pull the trigger on one of these models.

@MrMichael
Runs one and the reviews speak for themselves.

Good Stuff!!!!I own one of the smaller Varios and I'm very happy with it. There are a few build threads with Varios and they use a variant of that DC pump on their skimmers. I recommend it.
Ecotech has sold enough Vectra that there are plenty of reviews available. The third option would be the upcoming Siccie DC pumps. Everyone loves their non-DC pumps, so there is excitement over the upcoming DC pumps. Minimal reviews available.
If anyone speaks German, maybe they could summarize MeerwasserLive's recent YouTube review of the Siccie?? You can see demos of the Siccie iOS app in their review.

I was very happy with my Vectra M1.If i go dc would be looking at internal
There are so many mixed reviews on all the dc pumps, this has me scratching my head. Plenty of people love them, but there are quite a number of problems i am seeing with not performing to specs and failure of controller and or pumps. In most cases multiple of same problem occurring with same model pump within reviews from customers.
I am also at the beginning stages of a 120. I plan and using a Fluval SP4 (AC) with a gate valve to tune the flow. This pump is supposed to be very quiet and very reliable.
When people start claiming they've had DC pumps work flawlessly for 5 years, I'll start believing in DC pumps as return pumps
