Hello this is my first post on this forum. Some Background, second saltwater tank but my first setup with a sump(tank is a 29 rimless and my sump is a custom 20 gal. I have a hang on the back overflow rated at i believe 300 gph. Im running a jecod DCS 1200 which can pump 317gph.

Well anyway on to my question i woke up this morning to my display tank around 5 degrees cooler than my sump, and noticed the overflow not taking down as much water as usual. first thing i checked was the return pump made sure nothing was blocking it. Started the pump back up and the water was coming out at best as a trickle. Should i give it more cleaning or try a new pump?
Thanks ahead of time

Sounds like the pump isn't running at full capacity. I'd tear it down and give it a good clean through. Could be something in the impeller housing causing it to not spin freely.

Thanks for the quick reply !
Threw a spare heater in my display and will try and give a real good cleaning like you said, update soon

I would do the clean out of the old pump first.
Hopefully that will get it going.
jecod/jeboa are cheap chinese made pumps that generally don't hold up well.
This might be a good opportunity to do some research for a new pump.
Think of it as a upgrade.

Thanks guys! Had to take it apart and clear some stuff out a second time but I got it back up. Just didn’t have the cash at the time to shell out for the pump at the time but thanks for the advice I will add that to my research list !
