Return pump question

Hey everyone I’m having troubles deciding on a return pump for my current situation. I recently purchased an eshopps Rs-100 sump got it for a great price. Now the issue I am having is the 4” wide return pump section. My tank is a 48” long 90 gallon tank. I can’t for the life of me find a 4” wide return pump with a high gph rate. I am planning to hard plumb my reactors and chiller all together with my return pump,plus the head loss I will be losing getting to my main display. Does anyone know of a 4” wide pump that kicks butt??

I too have a 90 DT. My first return pump that I used for maybe eight or nine years was a MAG 9.5. I then went with a DC pump....a Waveline 6000. Both these pumps are less than four inches.

There are a number of pumps that will work. However, as you know, there are inexpensive, expensive and very expensive options. What's your restriction, if any, on price?

Without going with Jebao, or similar, that is going to be a very tall order. Especially if you want DC control.

Actually, if I was doing my tank now, I have no problem going with a Jebao pump. The 6000 is around $80, and I'd buy two to have one as a backup.

Will 1500gph be enough for my display,reactors and chiller ? Looks like I have a lot of homework to there’s that’s a lot of good pumps.

What will be the distance from the sump to the display? Because you will have a bunch of head loss if going up a floor

I agree with you about the Jebaos. I'm a fan.

BTW - the Current you linked won't work for his application. It's too big to fit in his 4" restriction.

1500 should be fine with the chiller, reactor and 4' of head pressure, well, depending on the size of the pipe you'll be using. I am assuming you'll be using either 3/4" or 1" but I hate assuming...

I am using 1 inch throughout my sump but right before my bulkhead it will drop to 3/4

Basically, as far as function and calculations are concerned, you'll be using 3/4". However, you should still be fine at 1500.
