Is Hygger a good brand? Doing a search on the forum is mostly coming up with heaters. I want to get my 125 gallon tank really going again but I can’t get any of my old Rio pumps to pull water anymore. This was the second time I have lost nearly everything due to a pump failure issue, so I’m scared to buy another dud, but don’t have a big budget because the latest failure shorted out some of my other equipment with it.

For ac pumps, checkout Eheim, Tunze, Sicce, Fluval, or even Danner pumps.
For dc pumps my 2 favorites are Vectra and VarioS.
Dependable dc pumps are going to be more expensive, but you generally get controls and are usually quieter.

Second hand eheim brick (the old AC style). I have never had one of these fail due to a fault of the pump. I wish they made them all like this. I have had one running on and off for over 30 years.

I second the varios pumps if going DC I have three of them on various parts of my systems they are quiet and have been dependable for the last 3 years.
