Calculate total water volume times desired flow rate.
Tank plus sump. Times desired flow rate equals gph of the pump
I.e. Ten x. Or five x.return rate
55 plus 20 is 75 times ten is 750.
What return rate do you want. Ten is high
Many reccomend five to seven.
Visit a head loss calculator here or easily Google
Make sure that line is safe. It'll harden and leach. Plus it's clear so it'll grow algae.

Is that 12' vertical?

I like a slower flow so I would shoot for a pump that would give me 250-275 gph at the tank after head loss.
Nice quiet pump brands include Tunze, Sicce Syncra Silent, and Eheim.

A Mag 3 or Mag 5 should be about right, just from experience. Both should be right in the ideal range...just at either end of it. A Mag 3 should be fine out of the box, but you might decide you want a ball valve if you use the Mag 5.

(All assuming it's a normal height stand and a normal run of tubing. Substitute Quiet One pumps instead if you want....I like both.)

I don't remember seeing a headloss calculator that accounts for tubing.....anyone?
