I am going to be building (as soon as the builder is done building it) a 125 gallon (18"X72"X22") with 1.5" piping for the return. I am unsure how big of a pump I will need.

Typically 5x turn over to the sump. Look for around 700gph - 800gph pump.

I was think it probily be 6-8'

You can look at the different pumps, most have head loss charts, that will tell you how many gph they pump at certain head heights. Are you planning on external pump, or internal?

Me personally, I would go bigger if you are planning manifold and a jebao dc pump. You can turn it down, or like flippers mentions, have the overage going directly back into the sump. (Like at the end of the manifold another pipe with valve going back into sump).

Yep, a little more gph to run a manifold is a good idea. You can waste off what you don't need back into the sump when not running a reactor.
Which one would you use for this build with a manifold?, the Jecod DCS 4000 (749-1050GPH) or the Jecod DCP 5000 (855-1320GPH)?

Going off that chart and with your stated head loss of 6 - 8 ft. and the plans for a manifold, I would be inclined to look at buying the 9000 model.

Hopefully some others who have one of the jebao pumps will chime in to help!

Jaebo 12000 ... Here's why.. Get more than you need and use the controller to dial it back. The pump works less hard, and lasts longer. I have the jaebo dct 4000 on a 75 gallon and its on a 4 setting. On my 180g they suggested the 12000.. So 12k would work for you, and give you room to add on should you need it. The 9000 is nice, but very little price difference when I looked last.

Maybe I would be even better with the 10000 or 12000? I was thinking the 12000 and just turn it up or down based on what I need for flow.

That's kina funny as I was looking over the numbers for flow and thinking the same thing, the Jebao 12000

If it fits in the sump, it doesn't really hurt at all to go a bit bigger with these dc pumps! There's very few that deal with head loss well and those are very expensive. Nothing wrong with the jebao imo, especially for the money, but often need a little more pump with head loss figured in.

I decided to go with 2 pumps for my return on my new build then if one ever fails they tank will be ok with one running, I am going for 10 times turn over at least
