Return pump suggestions

I had a m1 that impeller rusted out. They sent me a l2. Then I sent the l2 back then sent me a m2. So far so good

...are absolutely the industry GOLD STANDARD. Mine been running nonstop since 2012... ZERO ISSUES!

Many LFS in my area use this pump as well. Should get 15yrs out of it...no problem

If/when mine dies....getting the same exact one without the 2nd thought

Be careful of Jebao products.

Cheaply made in the Guangdong Chinese Province

Multiple posts on Google that the company has had Fire Hazard issues.

You wouldnt find Jebao in my house while my family was sleeping.

Just sayin'

Do you guys like yours? I'm setting up my 125gal tank and I plan to buy an M1. Since this tank isn't (and can't be) reef-ready, I need my return pumps to be absolutely fail safe. I have been eyeballing the ETM M1's for a few weeks now, primarily due to the backup battery system. Living in CT, power outages are common (we had one this morning pre-snowstorm). That being said, I keep reading the intermittent review about the pumps and/or battery failing. I think technically at this stage I'd be buying the "Vectra 2" series since the first rollout of these pumps is discontinued, but I'd love to hear your personal experiences with your pumps.

I have an M1 for a return in my reef which has been in use for basically 2 years on the dot and it failed last week. Came home to the display water level low so that immediately told me the return pump was prob off. The controller lights were off so after some troubleshooting with a voltmeter I concluded that i had a bad power supply. Ordered a new one locally (Thankfully) so it got to me pretty quickly. During the wait of it getting to me I decided I'll clean the pump itself while it was out of the system and noticed immediately that there was dark black sludge on the propeller/magnet and housings. I also noticed that the magnet housing walls were not uniform and evenly smooth (like new) but rather slightly warped as if heat was warping the walls and causing slight bubbling of the plastic.

I cleaned everything with vinegar hooked up the new power supply and everything works for now...I emailed ecotech with my findings under the advice of my LFS so we'll see if they choose to do anything or not for me. I do know that I'm not comfortable with it being in my system for long and I'm constantly checking to make sure it's functioning.
