Hello,

Im currently in the process of tuning in my Red sea 250. I filled it with water today and now trying to adjust the return pump and the valve.

My return pump is a royal exclusiv Red dragon x 80 and is Set to 2400 (I hope/think that means Liter per hour). Red sea recommends 2500 Liter per hour.
But I have the feeling its already too much. But Im a newbie so I feel better when asking here

I made two Videos, i hope you can See it. Espacially in the sump i have the feeling that the water Just rushes through everything ^^

Edit:
Seems like native Video Upload doesnt work, so here are YouTube links

It took me a good two weeks of tweaking the turnover flow and the gyre and wave pumps. It is slow and then once you have critters in there like anemones or corals and some slow moving fish you have to do it all over again. The most important IMHO is to meet the turnover required for the tank. I wasnt but it was blowing sand so i redid my outlets and added a couple to alleviate high velocity scenarios.
Congrats on the tank and enjoy!

dang ^^ the "Problem" is that I currently dont know what the goal is / how it should Look like. But youre right, Meeting the requirement is one goal that should be reached

I hear all kinds of takes on this, the old stand by is 10 times turnover and then lately the take is 5. I set mine up for 7 times. The volume i used was the tank + sump - the sand bed and live rock/equipment. The good thing is you have a dc pump so it makes controlling this a snap. My 3200 lph pump runs at half speed to accomplish this turn over. I oversized the pump so i can turn it down to keep it quieter and hopefully improve the longevity of the pump. Make sense?

Makes sense :) 7 times Sounds like a good compromise. At the current speed it would be too loud for me. I try to fiddle with it tomorrow. Now I hope everything runs fine while I sleep.
