Evening all I’d like a little advice from you if possible I’ve set up a aquaone reefsys 180 this weekend and I’m thinking I may of over powered the return pump I fitted a TMC reef pump 4000. So doing 4000 ltrs per hour
Should I change the pump for something smaller or will it be ok.

You have a 180 gallons aquarium and the pump is going 1057 gallons per hour ?

If so that seems like a lot. I’ve always read you’re supposed to get 10x turn around per hour, but most of it should come from power heads and wave makers.

Is it a DC pump ? Can you turn it down ?

Someone with more experience should come along.

You can run a ball valve on the pump if ac (might have its own built in adjustment under the prefilter screen) or if it's dc, you can dial it down if needed and likely be fine.
I have a 40g aquaone and use a jebao dcp 5000 in the back with no issues at around 60%
