Hey everyone quick question. I have a Red Sea 425xl with a vectra m1 how high should I have my pump set to?

Hello,

I would turn the pump up as high as possible, until it starts to move the sand in your sand bed. However, also remember you want ten times the flow, but still want it slow enough that the water is filtered. :)

So you want as much water flow as possible? Because I have a max spect gyre 230 so should I have that at 100%?

Hello,

I would run as much as possible as long as it’s not moving the sand bed and some corals do not like tons of flow. If it was an sps dominate tank than you would be fine since they like lots of flow. But the best way is to look up the care guide on the coral before you place it in the tank. It also depends on what kind of return nozzle you have and sump.’

I just have a stock Red Sea nozzle and Red Sea sump looking to do a mix reef

I have a Red Sea reefer 525. I had a aqua excel dc10000 return pump for about a year and a half. It just went out. I’m thinking about getting a cor20 since I am already running the 2016 apex also considering an reef octopus 8. Does anyone have experience with these pumps. Are aqua excel pumps reliable?

Thank you

I would n o t blast unit and sand but rather start low-med and adjust output to allow both bottom and surface to agitate gently.
This will distribute current throughout tank. This is also where a shutoff valve valve will act as a flow adjuster unless you have a variable speed pump
