Return pump

What type of return pump are you guys using?
Currently I have one from my old setup, some Hydor L40 pump. I don't think it can move enough water circulation.
I have Eshopps over flow box (150 gallon) with 2 drain PVC pipes, each one has it's own valve (I installed). Currently, I have only a half valve open out of the 2 valves. If I open both valves, it drains the box in a few seconds.

Also, I just bought 55w UV sterilizer and I was wondering if I can connect it to the main pump (return to the tank) or I should add an additional pump only for the UV?

I use RO Varios2 & Varios4 on my 90. I rotate them for cleaning and keep the extra one ready as a backup.

UV filters want slow flow for maximum effectiveness. So it's always nice to be able to tune the flow to that end.

Check out the Varios 4. Plenty of power, extremely quiet and smooth. And it's a DC pump so it uses a lot less electricity. Plus they have outstanding service and parts are available. Service and parts are the deal breaker for me. Gotta have someone to help when needed. Too many overseas companies just don't have help and parts.

Doesn’t sound like you are running the drains properly. Only one should be valved; the other should be wide open with a stand pipe inside the external box.

Sorry I didn't describe it good. I did it exactly as you said, but the one with the valve is only half way open.
are you guys have the same setup? is it normal?
