Ok so I just bought a ghost overflow box- the guy at the LFS said it was around 1500 GPH. I have a 90 gallon. The problem is, my return pump is 1000 GPH- it’s adjustable. Do I need a higher rated return pump?

Not a problem at all. The 1500GPH is the maximum rated flow for the Ghost Overflow. Any flow below that should be fine.

Late to the party again but as others have said, 1500 is the max flow for that overflow so you can't possibly overload the overflow. The recommended flow is 3-5x so at 1000 gph, or more likely closer to 800-900 gph with head pressure, and say 100 gallons total if you're running a large sump, you have 8-9x turnover. More if you're not running a sump or have a smaller total amount of water. So you're good all around!

Yay! I wanted a larger overflow with an emergency pipe so I could go on vacations without worrying lol
