This is definitely a newbie question— I have a Bashsea sump with 3 compartments the far left is where the drains are, as well as my skimmer. The middle is being used as a refugium. The far right has my pump —- is the far right considered the return? Or is it the far left?

It really only depend on your set up. I always have my return to the left when I set up a system . But many have it the other way.

My setup is as described. My pump is in the far right chamber…the far left is where the drains are. Does that mean my return is on the right, or the left?

The return chamber would be the one farthest away from the drain.

If the return pumps are in the drain compartment, you will simply be pumping the same dirty water back to the tank.

Return is on the opposite side of the drain. Left or right doesn’t matter
