hello, I'm new to the forum but sorta not new to the hobby. The industry has changed so much since my first reef aquarium. Back in the day I loved my 90 gal., but was really never successful. I look back at it now and can laugh. Filteration was bio balls with high out flourecent lighting...it was a disaster. I want to jump back in but undecided if I should get a 90 or 120 gal. tank. I'm thinking about Radion xr30 for lighting but not sure if I need 2 or 3. Wish I could calculate the maintenance cost difference between a 90 gal. Vs 120 gal. Any help you can provide would greatly be appreciated. Thanks

Either a 90 or 120 will be nice, IMO I like the 4x2x2 foot print of the 120 standard.
Only cost extra will on the lights, rocks and a bit more sand.
Everything else will work on both.
You can have a sump, skimmer, return pump, wave pumps, heater, reactors, controllers, I'm sure I missed a few but all this will work on both.
Depends on the footprint but you can stretch one radion for a 90G but need atleast 2 for a 120G, all this is what kind system you want.
Read through some of the builds here and ask a lot.

I use (2) Radion Xr 15 Pro's on my 90gal and have been happy. Pleanty of light, no dead spots and run my intensity of 60%. Several people on Youtube have got (2) XR30's on their 90gal but i dont think it is necessary. Feel free to take a look at mine! I would think 2 XR30s would be enough for a 120, hell, (3) XR15's would probably be perfect if you went with a 120gal. You can find my first post of my tank in my profile under "Find all started threads".
