I'm setting up a fish and live rock 75 gallon tank with overflow. I have the frame built for an in wall setup. Now I have to build a sump because everything is on back order till May through my local supplier. I looked into building my own and there's an overwhelming amount of information. Where do I start. Down the road I might introduce some live coral depending on how the tank does. What should I get for lights for my set up now. What should I look into for filtration? UV steralizer? Protein skimmer? What is the best media to use? I've watched several videos and seen what looks like porus gravel. Substrate pro?

Welcome to Reef2Reef!

Too bad things are on backorder, supply problems?

There are so many different ways to set up a tank like this. Personally, I like to decide up front if the tank will be focused on fish or on coral. Lots of people focus on both at the same time, but I think that too many compromises need to be made when you do that.

I'd skip the UV, they have limited use in controlling active diseases. You'd be better served by investing in a smaller quarantine/isolation tank.
