After living in rentals for 7 years that would not allow fish tanks we have purchased a home and I’m preparing to get back into the hobby. Have always been an LPS and SPS fan in the smaller tank ranges.

Have there been any changes in thinking/equipment over the past 7 years or so?

Welcome back. Congrats on the home. That's exciting. Everything has changed. Most notably lights and all the configurations.

Welcome to R2R!!! We still keep fish in water inside glass boxes. The technology has certainly evolved including lights, pumps, monitoring, controlling, and more!

^^ Yep. What they said. Your best bet is to decide what size tank you want, what you want to keep, and how much you're willing to spend. Then start researching and asking LOTS of questions before you start purchasing. Could save you a lot of time, money and frustration in the long run. Good luck on the new build!
