Question- i have some old argonite (the heavy concrete-like stuff) that just ticked me the heck off until i finally replaced it all with kp live rock.
It's been just sitting outside on my deck holding up a fountain for about a year.
I'm considering re-using a few pieces just to add something to my QT tank.
So. How the heck do I clean it and prepare it????

But how do i sterilize it? We have a lot of wildlife running around on our deck and across the rocks, birds, squirrels, chipmunks...
H2O2? Vinegar? Bleach? Is there a formula?

I don't think that's necessary or desirable.
What does the wildlife introduce that will thrive or even survive in saltwater?
I have buckets of rock outside in saltwater that gets swapped into the tanks as required.
I would put the rock in saltwater for a few weeks.

Thanks!! That does alleviate my concerns

You can do a 10:1 bleach cure for a few days, and then soak in rodi and then it dry before cycling it. Can help get ride of some organic that may have built up over time. Not necessary though.

I agree that you can probably just let it cycle and use it (though the cycle may take longer).
