Hi, I have a question about QT tank, I had a sailfin tang in there with ICH, dosed with cupermine, and treated the fish, after 38 days in qt it was good and moved it to the DT.

About 3-4 weeks later the tank is still running, added top off water only, no water changes.

It's a 10 gallon tank

Can I add a new fire fish to the QT, or do I need to start the qt tank all over again?

I have a QT that I run 24/7/365 I reuse it regularly for various treatments as it has an established bio-filter. I run copper and when it's done I use poly-filters and cuprisorb to remove it. I use the same tank when I run metroplex and prazipro separately with max 50% water changes and poly filters between treatments... I don't know if this helps but it works for me. FWIW the system is a stand alone 20gal with it's own 10gal sump, chiller, heater and controller.

I would say yes. Maybe do water change, so u dont freak out the next fish's system when u put it in. As for the ich, IMO, fish always carry the bacteria that causes the white spots we see. So I believe the sailfin was stressed or had another issue going on with it physically. Hope this helps

Sailfin has been in the DT for a month, no issues.

I just want to know if I can keep using my qt, even with trace copper in it still?

If you're planning to use it to copper treat another fish then yes...I always have. if you are planning to treat with something else (any other meds) I would suggest absorbing as much of the copper as possible. With that being said be aware that once you use the tank and everything in it, you can no longer use it or any of the equipment for your display if you are planning to keep inverts.

I have 2 small live rocks and a 6" oyster shell (top half only) which were both used for cycling prior to the sailfin going into qt, now the copper level has dropped, and isn't at a therapeutic level. Would I be able to acclimate a new fish into the QT?

I understand that completely

I normally have my Cu Level at ~1.0 before adding the fish to QT once they are in I ramp it up to 2.25-2.5 over 2-3 days using copper power which I like a lot more than any other copper.

I did a write up on using Cuprion which I used before... I know you're using something different but since I did the write up, I have had zero losses and the only thing I changed was the copper itself. there are some pretty good links in the posts and I always trust the work of HumbleFish when it come to anything QT or disease related.
