Reverse osmosis and potassium permanganate

My city tap water was recently tinged pink. Upon further investigation it turns out they add potassium permanganate to the wster to remove maganese and other metal deposits in pipework.

Will potassium permanganate harm the ro/di unit at all?

It might damage an RO membrane, but I do not know what concentration becomes an issue.

Thanks. Would the carbon block possibly remove it before it reaches the membrane?
