What is the RO only TDS without the DI? This is the important number.
As far as the air, you may have air trapped in the housings since you use it portable. Next time you hook it up, once it is under pressure pick the unit up in your hands and slowly rotate it around in all orientations to release any trapped air in the housings and canisters, it should burp it and reduce the air bubbles once it has all been released.
You say the resin is bulk, how much do you buy and once opened do you use a seal a meal or other vacuum device to reseal the bags so the resin stays moist then store it in the back of the refrigerator so it stays fresh? Even under perfect conditions, resin has a shelf life of about 6 months. Once it has been opened this goes down and if it is allowed to dry out or is exposed to warm conditions and bright lighting it exhausts very quickly. Once it is dey it loses its cation and anion electrical properties and is shot. Itell people never buy more than you can use in 3 months time and if possible divy it up in individual 20 oz. portions in vacuum sealed bags so you don't have to open it each time and expose it all. I used to buy bulk resin but could never ever get the life out of it I get out of Spectrapure MaxCap and SilicaBuster cartridges. My DI life went from 150 measured gallons to 830 measured gallons on my very first swap and its been over 1000 gallons out of a MaxCap and 3000 out of the downstream SilicaBuster ever since. And I was buying the best resins available directly from Resin Depot and major suppliers in sealed 50 lb bags which my reef club then split up into individual portions.
