Hi, two weeks ago I used a new RO unit to fill my aquarium, then switched it off, today I wanted to use it again to do a water change and noticed the resin filter has gone from looking like the one in the online picture (new) to the way mine looks now, is this normal? It’s gone extremely dark and mushy when before it was solid as the water passed through it and bright.

Mine did that too! After one use the whole DI resin turned black. I just tested my output with my TDS meter, and it reads zero, so I'm not sure what's going on.

Yeah I was wondering what’s in the water or the units a fake, was yours like the one in the picture a solid sponge and then turned mushy because if I move the unit the spongy looking stuff moves up and down where as before it was solid.

The beads dont pack perfectly efficiently without a little help. When you're reloading them, you need to bang them against the palm of your hand to help the beads settle. If it's not 100% packed, then you get these pockets when you run water through the cartridge.

As long as I’m getting 0 TDS I’m not going to worry. I’ll just test TDS again in a few months since that’s how long mine typically last.

Those DI resign containers are on the small side and won't last as long as the 10 inch cartridge.
