Personally I would go with 1 micron cartridges. Did you ask about the RO membrane when you bought it? Do you know for sure it wasn't upgraded at some point? I have an old Kent unit but I'm running a 90gpd membrane in it. If you know nothing about it then when you get a new RO membrane, be sure to buy a flow restrictor to match the membrane output you are buying.
Personally, I would go with a 1 micron sediment, then 2 1 micron carbon filters, 90gpd membrane, then 2 refillable DI cartridges. Save your money and don't buy the color changing. Also invest in a handheld TDS meter. Test your water after the first DI filter and when it hits 1 TDS, switch the 2 DI cartridges and refill the one that was originally in the first spot.
If you want to test your current setup, get the tds of your tap water and a reading after the RO membrane (after letting it run for several minutes). If your tds is 4% or less than the tap reading the ro membrane is still good.
