Well nothing is perfect. An if you think something is then you are not truly seeing reality.

This is by far the best group of people on an online forum I've ever experienced. People act like they're talking to you in person. No hiding behind the keyboard in this place.

There's always room for improvement though. Forum layout etc., could be tweaked.

This is more a personal comment than anything.....

Forums in general usually bring out differing ideas. I've personally been in a few debates where things got personal and been mildly attacked for my personal "opinion".

Good news is R2R is 10x more friendly than Reef Central. RC is filled with "it's my way or the hwy" 20yrs old dudes. I refuse to post there bc a lot of 20yr old dudes cant wait to light up their 100ft flamethrowers.

It dawned on me 2mos ago...

Why am I debating:
1) someone I dont know,
2) someone I'll never meet in person,
3) someone who has never laid eyes on my setup, nor really has any interest in my success. If I posted a 100% complete meltdown of my tank and lost everything, they feel mildly sad for me first 2.2 seconds

....so if someone wants to debate me and tell me I'm wrong, I go mute. NOT worth it....

Forums in general are good sources of info....R2R does an excellent job with that

How many gallons is the new logo? Is it 8 feet? What kind of aquascaping?

Jk.

In all seriousness though I love this site. This was one of the reasons I got I to reefing to begin with. The wealth of resources and information here has saved so many reefers time and time again. I will admit that normally only look for things I'm dealing with at the time so I cant really say anything about sponsors or truly supporting R2R. I feel now that I can answer some questions that ppl pose and that feels pretty good.

I love that R2R gives us a platform to ask the silliest to most serious questions we can think of. Then we get passionate answers in return. There are plenty of ppl to stir the pot but I love the nonchalance of our trusted leader @revhtree the best.

I'm not afraid to said that I vote, Isn't perfect but it's pretty close. Just because nothing is perfect, there is always a chance for improvement. So far is my favorite site to sneak around. Nothing else compare with the topics and hospitality. There is someone able to help you and others like in every place... but that is common this days.

Keep the good work and Happy Reefing!!!

Overall it's great.
As previously suggested:
Notification when someone you are Following starts a new thread.
The best setup ever for coral sales was Frags.org which is long gone. I wish there was a way for someone to show what it was like and copy. It had feedback on several parameters, searchable by coral type...specific like Acro, Millipora also geographical searches.

That's an interesting idea. I wonder if
Probably too much to ask but hey I'll throw it out there. Maybe a forum that conducts controlled studies similar to BRS investigates. Much of peoples opinions here (mine included) are anecdotal and the result of spurious correlations vs. proven factual causal relations. It'd be pretty cool to see this site really become a source for tested factual information.

That's an interesting idea. I wonder if R2R and BRS could partner up on a small handful of user-picked topics. Funded perhaps by an option for R2R partners? I can't financially support R2R at this time so I don't know what their partnership options look like, but if they have choices for how their funds are used, perhaps an option to contribute to a fund to support research topics could be useful. Maybe input from sponsors, and members have the opportunity to "host" the projects in their own homes? I work in a laboratory, and the science-minded nerd in me just started drooling at the thought of controlled studies!

There are members doing this with their own money.

I’d be in the dark with regard to the reefing world without R2R. Great asset to the community and especially for reefers that are just getting into hobby. Thanks for everything.

form the beginning Rev when you were thinking of taken this site over til now I got to say you have done great I remember talking to you late at night acouple of times. there is not much to improve. I was out for awhile and when I got back in this was one of the first things I did was join again

Good idea. I'd be happy to contribute funds through membership to support research like this.

I voted in the middle (first rule of surveys is to not have an odd number of responses) simply because there is always room for improvement and blowing sunshine up anyone’s *** ain’t helpful. These are my stream of conscious thoughts.

I spend more time on R2R than any other reefing forum, and its my current favorite. Not because it is ‘friendlier’ - I like a vigorous debate and think some people need to grow a thicker skin - but because it is friendlier to things like loading pictures and even videos. Trying to maintain a picture-heavy thread in some of the other forums is a hair pulling experience. I think the articles section is excellent, but I’d like to hear from some of the more experienced and expert (the two aren’t necessarily the same) reefers. Given that places like R2R have largely killed of the reef book publishing business, it’d be cool to perhaps see some of the authors with unpublished volumes represented (like the remaining volumes of the Reef Fishes series - though I appreciate that there may be copyright entanglements). I do still use RC for some of the advanced stuff like the ATS, anemone antibiotic protocol and Masterflex threads. Is there an advanced forum here? Maybe there is. I had tended to think of R2R as a novice forum and RC as more advanced, but as some of the really capable reefers have shown up here, I don’t think that’s as true anymore. I do agree with the earlier observation about anecdotal versus scientific. Not sure how one fixes that, mostly because most hobbyists have neither the resources nor the knowledge to conduct valid experiments.

Add me to the …. there's an app? ….. list LOL.

My only real issue is how long it takes to load the index page (http://www.reef2reef.com/). It would help to have a page that would could press from any part of the site, like "home" or "watched threads", that showed us recent threads like home.

Edit: Read a few comments about valid scientific studies. What BRS does is not valid scientific studies. They might or might not provide some useful practical information, but you can't run statistics on a sample size of one. Even just making one change on a system and seeing what happens doesn't provide anything close to conclusive. Myriad variables are unaccounted if they are not multiple systems in the same environment at the same time.

The financial burden of even doing some simple comparisons or just setting up tanks and seeing if they work like BRS would be too large for Rev to fund. If you want to advocate for further scientific studies to be done look to the academic world, there are tons of ways to contribute to the scientific community as it relates to reefing topics.

While nothing in this world is perfect, R2R is perty dang close. With that said doe they video upload from iPhone would be awesome addition.
Outside of that I’m happy as ... well... a clam.

I LOVE R2R. I came here to say I wish there were an APP, as Tapatalk is not that great. I read a few posts before commenting and now know THERE IS AN APP!! So, now I have a suggestion... Make the fact that there is an app much more prominent so people know!! I just installed it.
