Review on SB Reef Lights?

Agreed. You misinterpreted. Why would you file a claim instead of just shooting the Herman's and email? I have 4 sbs. I love them. That being said, one of mine was delivered in pieces. A quick email to them and I had tracking on a new light. As well as a return label. They will go above and beyond for customer service.

No I never said I was disappointed with SB considering I haven't talked to them yet (no response). This is a thread on reviews. So I thought anyone stumbling on it would like to know how the process is going. A little annoyed at the shipping (10 days for claim number from DHL before SB will refund or replace I assume). Ah the legs thing is a little confusing thanks for sorting that. I was hoping to get it at least 12 inches above. Hanging the light is not an option for me. I plugged it in to see if it worked at all. Nothing. It made a hum, the fans, but no light. If I would have ordered it through Amazon the return or replacement process would have gone much easier for the consumer.

Their website says to. I also emailed them. Still waiting for claim number from DHL. "Contact DHL immediately and start a claim. They just need your tracking number. Keep all packaging. Take pictures of everything you can. Send claim number, picture and description to [email protected]" Claim number takes 10 days DHL says?

So I had to file a claim with DHL. Which is the first hoop. Now I wait for a claim number from DHL for sbreef, hoop 2. I highly suggest buying this light from Amazon. I noticed they were there, and I'm thinking I could have cut out the hoops. Maybe.

The Amazon lights are sold by us as well. You would have actually added a loop. :)

Although we all get excited about new gear arriving and this is the last thing we want to see, this is simply a shipping issue. Customer emailed me at 9:54pm last night and I responded this morning and started the claim. I already have another light coming, which any other vendor would not do until the claim was settled. Not seeing any issues here. Let me know what else I can do to help out. Again sorry DHL was so rough with the box, they typically are the better of the 3 we use (FedEx/UPS).

Also on the legs, 30" is the max width. If you need more height the lights come with an included hanging kit. Typically the max height is sufficient on up to a 24" tank with a single 16" light. At 30" wide the legs will fit, however at max height you may have a small amount of shadowing at the far 2-3", top 2-3" only. More noticeable in pics than with your eyes. We also sell VESA TV wall mount adapters for a cleaner install.

Yeah I am an idiot, admittingly so. Thanks for your great service thus far. I'm like a spoiled kid ya know. When you get so hyped for a new toy and to have it come all broken! Ugh. Then to have that DHL dude laugh it off, I was like Grrr. I'm going to trust you on the legs, less intensity and go from there. Thanks again!

Just got an email back! Stand up guy. Shipping a new light as I type this. All the hype has lived up. Great service very pleased!

We posted at the same time. lol. Glad you are happy. I will continue to follow up to expedite the replacement light out. In the mean time if you can get that one to work, use it until the new light arrives, or DHL picks it up. :)

lol. I am the same way when I order new equipment whether for me or the store. We have all become "Amazon Spoiled" :) With our next shipment we should be able to maintain the Pensacola Warehouse so shipping and issues like this will be much, much quicker. In fact we will ship out the day of order in most cases. I have $120K of lights arriving early February, which should float us 6 to 8 weeks. Long enough for the next shipment to arrive. Should be able to sustain the USA stock levels then. Growing pains. :)

For those that do not know the back story of SB, we planned on selling 30 or so lights a month. We sell over 600/month, plus have a LFS now as well. We are truly blessed and have the reefing community to thank for it.

Mine comes in tomorrow. I can't wait to get it above my fuge. I am holding off plumbing until I see what area it takes up above the tank.

Hey you worked closely with my LFS gal. She is using one of your prototypes for freshwater. So I will most likely look into one of those in the future. Small world.

Yes Barbie was a HUGE help beta testing the Fresh Water Plant lights! She's real good people.

As an owner of a family business, I enjoy these type of success stories. The very best to you, Sir.

Here is my 11 month SB Reef Light review.

So I took apart the light that didn't work last night. Super easy to take apart. There was bundle of cords not making contact. Got it sorted. Took a minute or two, but I got it working. Then I blinded myself (I am not smart). So I was playing with the app, and it's pretty cool. I'm going to have to watch the video to learn how to set all the points. I thought it was cool I can set when the fans come on. Light runs hotter than the Kessil for sure which is to be expected. I still think two fans is overkill, but maybe this summer I will see why there are two fans. There was no spill from the cracks in the led housings so I am thinking this light can be easily refurbed. She won't win any beauty contests, but I am buying it for function over aesthetics.

I won't let anyone tell me any different that Kessils not only HIGHLY exaggerate the lights capability, but no person on their support team will ever have any working suggestions. Besides T5 supplemented tanks, I have never seen a long term SPS tank with a Kessil. As you can see above, SB Reef lights work. I will happily and gladly take before an after photos of my tank and keep it updated.

OK new light came in and it shipped UPS instead of DHL. BIG difference in how the box looked. Took everything out and gave it a once over. Worked perfectly. I haven't had time to get it all the way up and running yet, but that's my weekend project. I have the broken light awaiting return. I bet you DHL is holding up the claim. They didn't sound like they work in a timely manner.

I have had mine (2 x 16" WiFi's) since the week before Christmas and I am already starting to get new growth, although, I am stilling ramping up my lights. I have to say that SB Reef Lights are very good for the price and I love the wifi control. Customer service is excellent! I highly recommend them!
how do i connect two at 1 time???? im having a heck of a time.. do i need to be connected to my router or the embedsky and i do them one at a time correct?

On your router create the embedsky SSID. Your lights will automatically connect. If not hold down the green button for 3 secs. Should get a fast flash and they will connect. Once connect go into phone app and add both device under devices and then settings. You should be able to see them, their temp, and offline or online status. Then go to the smart section of the phone software. Create your time program and name it. Select the devices to apply it to at the top of the screen. When you do this a list of your two lights that you added in the devices screen will come up and you will check both. Then hit start and it should up both at the same time. This should also sync the time on both devices with your phone.
