picked up a couple new chalices from a local that i think have some promise with some TLC

only problem is that i think one of them may not make it..i dipped all 3 in ReVive to get the nasties off and when i put the one in the tank is was SUPER ticked, had all the white stringy stuff coming off and worst of all about half of it is covered in dark black splotches, looks absolutely horrible

advice??

ive had bad experiences with revive as well..........dipped some zoas like my nightmares and PPE and they closed for a long time........maybe a week for the PPE but one of my nightmares stayed close for like 2 weeks but opened back up........thank god. I just use brightwells coral dip or similar rather than revive.

Im sure it will be fine. Blow away the extra slime if possible and watch it close.

the chalice was bright red, now there are areas that are completely black and you can start to see skeleton.....it literally melted before my eyes i will get a pic tommorrow, i dont see this thing surviving

it went from completely red to 70% black and melting in a 15 min span

mind boggling, im so ticked off

thanks

just blows my mind....

on the bright side.....there were some gross pests on that chalice that the reVive killed so i'm still glad i did it!

just do GD wierd that it affected the one chalice that way and no ill effects on the other 2 that were dipped

hmm odd. i use it for ALL of my corals even when fragging and never had a problem. although i will say i am very light when i use it. did you maybe put to much??

sorry to hear it,one thing because my dumb a.. used the revive with fresh RO/DI instead of SW from tank was a dumb mistake wasnt thinking did you by chance do that.

i dip everything in revive, and have never had any bad results with it. in fact i just did 2 chalice frags and all was great within minutes of placing in QT.

Off topic here, but how long do you guys and gals dip with the ReVive for? I just picked up a bottle and this thread had me a little nervous.

i usually dip for about 5 minutes ... then go to a logul dip for 10 minutes or so. after those the SPS sit in an interceptor bath for about 12-18 hours, the interceptor bath is usually in my 20 long with old tank water (from the most recent water change), then they hit the QT for a week or so.

How much revive in the dip water?

Another important thing is the amount of time in the dip. Other wise I also have not had any problems using it. I have had good results using it to fight the brown jelly slime / decay.
