Rev's 37g Oceanic Sps!!

Ok a little dilemma here.

I drilled the hole which came out to be like 2 3/8" and the bulkhead needs a
2 5/8" hole to fit. I do not want to bore it out any more and take the chance on breaking the glass.

What other bulkhead can I use instead. It a 1 1/2" BH, but I am afraid the hole is to big fo a 1". Do they make a slightly bigger BH that 1" and under 1 1/2"?

If I use a 1" BH I would have like 1/4: on each side I think. Would a 1" BH cover it?

Marinedepot says that for a 1" BH you need a 1 7/8 hole, I have a 2 3/8" hole.

Ok I ordered a new bulkhead from Liveaquaria. The standard BH will fit the hole.

I also got my light in yesterday. I got a 250w PFO pendant with a Blueline E-Ballast.

It's pretty slick if I say so myself. ;)

Sorry Rev. If the GE silicone has problems, I wasn't aware. I knew to stay away from type II but didn't know of any problems with type I. You'd also mentioned the yellowing and I've heard mixed responses about that :D

I think you did right by getting the silicone you did. ;)

Oh not a problem. I went to Wally world today to get some from the fish department and i they didnt have it I was going to get the GE I. But they did have it so I got 2 tubes for $10. :)

Hey rev, when are we going to see some pics. I'm interested in how that drain works opposed to an overflow.

cant remember off the top of my head, but i used the GE silicone that was "food safe". type 1 i guess? cant remember cuz i'm not at home.

rev, did you get the bulkhead fitted yet?

if i had that problem, i would have just gotten a diamond encrusted bit for a dremel and used the dremel to widen up the hole a bit.

where did you buy your diamond hole saws from?

btw...premium aquatics should have some cheap bulkheads in. also, there are some really awesome/bulky ones on mcmaster carr's website.

Ok I need help. Got everything plumbed built in a standpipe and the draining noise is terrible. What can I do?

Well its just a elbow coming out of the bulkhead. I have a standpipe on the back. I think I could add another elbow down and solve the problem maybe.

I'm interested in seeing this Dave. I didn't realize you were fitting a drain FROM the tank. I'd assumed this was a return TO the tank.

I'm considering retrofitting a corner overflow in one of my 37's too. I'd like to see how your's works out. I bet it looks sweet.

Gimme a shout and we can hook up and do some think-tanking ( pun intended ) :D:D:D

Updates:

Pmed you back. :)

I actually went ahead and set mine up. Here are some more build pics.

Here is after the glass was painted, installed and the sump done. I used clear and black on the sump cause I ran out. LOL!
