Personally I wanted mine to stick out about 8 inches from the wall and to build a bar around mine but the wife didn't want it that way :-(

Do you like looking down the long end of a tank?

I do, it's like being in the water with the reef.
I would have it sticking out a bit so you can see down the long side, although I understand it makes the build potentially more challenging.

If you just multiply out the tank in inches, then divide by 231 it will give you gallons. We use to do that all the time on our phones when we were dreaming about our tanks we were going to have that were the size of a two car garage...LOL

It was originally going to be right at 400g but I decided to make the tank less tall so I could reach the bottom better. Don't worry I'll change the thread title but I'll change it to 500g + because of all the water volume I'll have!

Oh finally have a company that will do the drain after a couple of meetings with others. They will be here tomorrow to give m an estimate. After I get the drain in I will be able to move a lot quicker!

Cant blame ya on going more shallow.
Same here on the water volume, the display on my tank will probably end up only being about 1/3 of the entire water volume anyways lol

HA! Thanks guys! I'll have plenty of photos coming soon! The build goes into high gear in two weeks!

Got the bud in for the drains and..........WOW! LOL! $3000 - $3800 More around $3500. So I contacted a plumber friend and he is going to do it for around $1000. I was already planning to ditch the drain and just do a mop sink off the wall for pouring water into.

Tank is ready and will be shipping this next week. It would have been sooner but with all the shows going on we and Planet have just been waiting on getting it shipped out.

The plan is to get the drain installed then I can start tackling the other things like power, dehumidifier, and walls for the tank room!

Nice to have a plumber as a friend, that is quite a bit of savings. Now all you need is a carpenter, electrician, cabinet maker, and tile guy as friends
