What are your thoughts on me just cycling the tank as is and no acid or curing bath? I'm not ready to take all that rock back out.

That's how I did it on the 187. No issues after four years.

The only rock I'd acid wash besides old used rock, is the pukani rock. That stuff is full of dead crap and will cause a major algae issue. I know from both not doing it and doing it after learning my lesson. Never add water to acid, but acid to water. Have plenty of baking soda to neutralize the acid when finished. Use eye and hand protection, derp.

What do the rock suppliers recommend? Do they have an issue with leaching phosphates?

The Rock was shipped to me damp but I had to hold it for several months so it totally dried out. A little dead crab fell out of the rock when I was scaping!

I've always cycled my tanks naturally. No acid etc etc.... let nature do its thing. I'd just pick off what's loose etc and get it wet. [emoji4]

I cycled my 220 with dry rock in the tank. Has been up for almost a year now and no issues yet.

That looks like RealReef rock, right? I had the same dilemma. I put it in and cycled as is. Worked like a charm.

I'd also be afraid of an acid bleaching out the purple on this rock. I've only done it with branch, marco, pukani etc....
