Rev's 400+ Gallon Basement Inwall

Just saw Rehv post that he is dosing 425ML a day of 2 part and his alk is dropping...now I need to know what is in this FTS that must be sucking up some serious ALK/CA! He is holding out on us :)

^But whatever is happening with the 5 90's in the second photo quoted above, could have been done with just 2 45s. :)

Bear in mind that Rev didn't even plumb this himself. :D

Just now seeing this and yes I did plumb this! Ha! I had help from a friend who knows nothing about aquariums and isn't a plumber! So yes I did butt head.

Keep up the good work because I have had every algae known...cyano, diatoms, hair algae and it sucks. I think we started around the same time, I'm currently a little over 4 months.

Are you growing any coralline algae yet?

Funny i just noticed some coralline yesterday as well as a little algae! Ha!

Took a "white" light iPhone video with most pumps off and the tank room lights on. As you can see I have a lot of easier corals in the tank since it's still young but I'm beginning to add more sps. The tester frags have been doing great!

Pardon the cheesy YouTube music and bad quality.

great setup there! Love those firefish....

OMG, Rev found his thread again! :P

To run through all my plumbing and then feed mybfrag tank, a species tank and a manifold I found out I needed more pump. So this shows up today....

Nice! How much water does it push? Looks like a really nice pump [emoji3]

  • BOOSTMODE max flow: 4,400 gph

Wow! Sounds great, hope it does the trick for you. How much head height do you need and still get the flow you need?

Nice pump!

I suspect that the vast majority of your head pressure is all in plumbing fittings, have you calculated the head pressure to the DT?
If possible can you try and determine what flow rates you get to your DT?

Oh, that explains it a bit more. And here I thought the plumber must have just ran out of 45's that day! ;Hilarious

Lol you never played that plumbing game? I was having too much fun!

Thanks everyone. I am going to try to keep this regularly updated. Although I would rather always post awesome photos and good stuff I want to keep you all up to date!

You might have read that my biggest issues have been keeping my ALK and CAL up and stable. I think I may be getting close to dialing it in but I think I may have to rework it all once I get my PH issues in line.

My tank has been doing really well but about a 2 weeks ago my LPS corals started declining. Lost a couple torches, acan frags, etc. Still not sure what happened but I am trying to slow down my tweaking some.

That being said I will be adding a CO2 scrubber in line to combat the PH issues where my PH never gets above 7.6 and mostly stays at 7.6. Yesterday I added an air line to skimmer, ran it outside for some testing and so far it's raise it only 0.02 points. So hopefully the scrubber will help get things going in the right direction and I can have a more stable tank.

I also needed more flow to run my frag tank, manifold and return flow so I added an Abyzz 200 yesterday.

Oh and I started getting some red algae, not cyano but something that's "dusty" if that makes sense.
