So i was thinking of replacing those fulham workhorse ballast with a triad ballast from reefgeek.

Is it hard to do as ive never replaced a ballast at all before but hoping that replacing the fixture with a spec t5 ballast will get better par...What do yall think?

I just replaced a burned out ballast on my TEK 8 bulb unit. It was not as hard as I was expecting, just a lot of wires and you have to make sure you have them all matched up correctly.

I really don't think that the ballast will make the difference you maybe believe it will. Have you checked your ballast in the TEK? I thought mine were Workhorse as well, but when I openned it up, they were Advance/Universal T5 HO Ballast.

It is a piece of cake.

The biggest thing is getting all the screws back in (my Tek is an older model, so that may have something to do with it).

When I bought mine, it had been retrofitted with two IceCaps. I pulled one Icecap out and went with a normal 4x54w ballast - went well and works great!
