Anyone ever have a rock flower rip off tentacles from a hammer? Well mine did just that! I came home from work just a minute ago to find my white rfa with 2 of the sweeper in its grip. The rfa has been wondering around this same rock tirelessly for the past few months but never lead to this. He ripped them right off!

needless to say, they are both not happy

Wow, I would definitely separate them before it goes too far. I'd move the hammer if possible. Best of luck :)

I would guess by the stretch, the hammer is trying to sting the RFA, not the other way around.
Second this. If you notice bits of the RFA skirt shriveling or simply missing, I think it essentially eats itself to remove the stinging tentacle that is stuck to it.

Thats very interesting, thats exactly what i think is happening. Is that normal for a hammer to loss sweepers when stinging a foe? Rfa still has the hammers polyps in its clutch but has moved away from his attacker.

My octospawn did this frequently to an RFA that refused to move. I'd look over and see a polyp stretched out on the RFAs tentacles and would take a pipette to break it off--RFA would eat it and Octospawn was happy as could be. That RFA was missing almost half its disk before it scooted over a half inch and is now thankfully fine.

Torch did the same thing a couple of times to another RFA that didn't wait around and is now on the opposite side of the tank.

looks like the hammer was sending out sweepers and the RFA decided to give them a taste, i would definitely separate them.
