Hey folks. Can someone advise me on the performance of my RFG? Are these bubbles normal? Would they affect my future corals?

Thanks

looks like its sucking in air. on the top left you can see what looks like a tornado of air being sucked in. just move it down a little and you will be fine.

Ahh good eye! I didn't notice that from the angle I'm looking at it from generally. Unfortunately, I can't move it down. I can only point it down. I guess I need more water in here to help that out.

I thought that @Vivid Creative Aquatics included additional knuckles with the product I ordered as I've read others that ordered got additional knuckles, but mine did not come with knuckles so now I have this issue.

Definitely need to get that RFG a little lower in the water column. The basic Random floe Generator® nozzle wont come with any modular hose, but all of our flow kits do

I'm guessing this is a Fluvial tank, but not sure if its the Spec V (5-gallon), or the larger 13.5, or some other model

let me know what you have, and I can help you get point you in the right direction

Hey! Thanks for the reply. I sent a message on your support website to see how I can go about getting some knuckles. I have the 13.5 model. I guess I ordered the "wrong" one by mistake.

Thank you!

Got your email - We'll respond there as well. If you have the Fluval 13.5, then I'm guessing that is a single 1/2in RFG Nozzle.

if that is the case, then you just need to 1/2in Loc-Line brand modular hose. There are a number a online retailer and many local fish stores that will care that hose.

Beyond that - you can follow this quick-start guide to help you position the RFG to help reduce the possible of *** drawing in air.

The main goal is to ensure that RFG is randomizing properly - once that is happening it's less likely to stay active on one channel long enough to form that vortex, that causes the burbles.

Hope that helps

Thanks so much. Your guide is helpful. Will give it a go when I’m back by the tank and report back if making parallel to top of water helped. Otherwise I’ll have to find the locline bits I need.
Cheers!

You'll definitely need some loc-line in this case - it'll be 1/2in Loc-Line you will need, and although it is generally sold in 6-segement sticks, you will only need 2 or 3 segments.

I responded to your email with a link to a local source that stocks 1/2in Loc-Line

Just in case you need it for reference - here is what you need

Well, I went out and picked up some Loc-Line as you suggested, used 3 segments and now its great. No more air draw. Excellent flow too now. Thanks for your help.

Also picked up my first ever Corals. GSP for an island, 3 Zoas for a small garden and a Candy Cane to start. Looking forward to getting some hammers, frogspawn and acans next :)

Appreciate your help!
