Anyone ever had one of these? Personalities? Can you have them with a starry benny?

Thanks

I do not know much other than I hear that they have a lot of personality, graze like lawnmower blenny, do not play well with other blennies unless in a large tank typically, and get white patches and change color at night a bit so don't worry.

Rhino blennies are not like lawnmower blennies at all IME. They are a carnivore of mico invertebrates. They also spend the majority of their time on the sand rather than the rocks. Rhino blennies mimic seaweed, are usually fearless of the aquarist, and can change there pattern quickly.

I favor his point. They would have been called lawnmower rhino blennies. These guys should be the only blenny in the tank. If your trying to get this because it looks cool or it's rare or hard to get and divers den gets them now and then but like eatbreakfast said they are scavengers.

Not scavengers, hunters, just microhunters. They also can be kept with other blennies, as long as the other blennies aren't too aggressive.

My " mother" (friends mom that raised me) had one that ate algae like a lawnmower blenny. That's the only experience I have with them though. Perhaps I am mistaking it though now that I look at the face of this guy - although I recall the color changing but I also recall that it hung out in the rocks a lot. Maybe I'm mixing it up it has been close to a decade

Depending on the size of your tank, starry blennies can be temperamental when adding new blennies to their territory and rhino blennies can be aggressive towards fish that have a similar shape as them. Personally I wouldn't attempt to have the two in the same tank unless it's large with plenty of hiding places or you add them simultaneously, even then there's still a chance of aggression between the two.

With the dozen or so Paraclinus blennies I have had, the only time there was any aggression was with two males in the same tank. They ignored other fish.

Added one to a 15 with a well established micro bed - stalks and pounces on pods - has taken to fleshy food.

Have not seen it pick Corals - it is my desk tank and watch it a lot

distinct personality but would not add any small crustaceans at this point

That said, he is fearless and think I could picket up with my hand if I wanted to move it
