Rhizo selling legal?

Is it okay to sell Rhizo?
I know it's illegal to export from Japan, but once it's in the country, and been in the country for years, is it legal to sell it?

I think that article says that its only illegal to import, but once its here, there are no rules regarding its sales.

It would take a lawyer to answer. But i was under the impression anything that it illegal to obtain is illegal to own and then selling would mean selling illegal livestock. Unless you have documents saying your's was not obtained illegally. How else would they be able to be sure there is not illegal imports just saying they had it for years and was it brought in illegally?

This reminds me of the pawn stars episode where dude comes in with a russian police officer hat. So, are you a moral person that wouldn't buy it? Or would you turn to your wallet if you were standing by one in a LFS or basement frag hole?

I'm not passing judgement, it's just that bad practices do nothing but put bad press on our hobby. Will it happen, of course it will. Are there any in the US from before they became illegal to import? Probably... This is such a grey area that probably has more loopholes than swiss cheese with gas.

Asked friend of mine who owns a LFS. He is not a lawyer. He said it is illegal to export but legal to sell. Makes no sense. So it is a giant loop hole. Protects people who have one already and allows black market to flourish. As long as they can get them here from overseas.

OP, you're original question of "is it legal to sell here", is a legit question. Any discussion of circumventing CITES thereafter, is the "not cool" part. CITES needs to be respected more than that.

I get yah. I am merely asking because I got a Rhizo off of a local trade from a guy who's had it for awhile. I didnt buy it or import it. But now I will probably just trade it.
